The ocean waves crashed against the shore this morning as I searched for the perfect white shell – my prayer shell. I couldn’t find it. But then I heard Your Holy Spirit speak to my heart, “My precious child, search for a broken one and pray with joy for those who are broken and I will calm their storm.”
Lord, it’s easy for me to get discouraged over my own trials or the storms that others face, especially the ones that don’t seem to go away. In those moments of frustration and brokenness, I draw near to You as I study Philippians and I remember Your servant, Paul, and his perspective. He trusted You in all circumstances of his life and continued to pray with joy, knowing You never abandon Your people. You will never abandon me! And through repentance, thanksgiving and joyful prayer, I will see, in Your good timing, Your hand at work in my life and the lives of Your children. The storms will cease because of Your saving grace. You’ve promised me and Your Word is truth, “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6).
Heavenly Father, I cling to Your promises that it is Your good work that saves me from the storms of life. I long to do Your Will in my life and draw near to You in everything I do.
