Over the past year I’ve watched many walk away from Your promises and truth. Heavenly Father, it breaks my heart and I wonder if it’s causing others to question their faith. I wonder because their statements cause me to have questions. Am I missing something?
You gently remind me as I read Your Word that many will fall away because Your truth doesn’t line up with how they want to live. The world blinds us by lies. Your truth tells me, “For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions” ( 2 Timothy 4:3 ESV).
You alone know our hearts. You alone know mine. And You are deeply interested in all of them. You know whether or not Your Spirit has enabled others to truly turn their lives over to You. It is not for me to judge others, but to love them. Paul says in 1 Thessalonians that there is one way to identify real, God-driven conversion: It happens with power, Your Holy Spirit, and deep conviction. When You are at work, real change happens in the heart. And heart change always shows up in our attitudes and actions as Your Spirit empowers us to overcome sin patterns and live in the fullness of grace.
I will faithfully proclaim Your truth. You alone know our hearts. And my heart belongs to You.
