The Flight Delay

By |2019-08-04T09:56:53-05:00July 4th, 2019|Encouragement|

I’m astonished, God, how You reveal Your presence even in the most tense circumstances. A flight delay infuriated the young man sitting next to me. His anger burned as I quietly listened to him venting his current frustrations, which led to his unhappy past. I waited patiently for You to give me the specific words to share with him. And when You did, I was able to share how You changed my life.

Lord, the world is desperate for You and they need to know Your truth for their life. I long to be that person who will share with others about Your peace, love and grace and will lead them to You.

Are You Out Of Your Comfort Zone?

By |2019-08-04T09:59:10-05:00June 9th, 2019|Bible Study, Daily Truth, Encouragement, Faith, Family, Friends|

Why is it that I praise and seek You only in the good times but complain when things aren’t going my way? I feel like I’m barely out of Egypt, like the Israelites grumbling against You, God, for taking me out of my comfort zone and into unknown desert, only to struggle with my current situation or to be bitten by the snakes of this world. What is it that You are trying to teach me? I can’t find contentment with where I am!

How quickly You show me that if I continue grumbling and walking in my disobedience the metaphorical serpents of this world will bite me. My eyes are not seeking the One You lifted up to give me an abundant life—eternal life. I’ve been consumed living in the moment and living my way. Your truth tells me,

Then the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died. And the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you. Pray to the Lord that he take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people. And the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole, and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.” So Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on a pole. And if a serpent bit anyone, he would look up at the bronze serpent and live” (Numbers 21:6–9 ESV).

Your Son was lifted up on the cross to die so I could be with You forever. And when I keep my eyes looking up to You, Jesus, I see truth. I live! Your truth tells me, “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life” (John 3:14–15 ESV). My Savior, I lift my arms to worship You and trust You in my unknown desert!

Can A Person Truly Love You And Still Seriously Sin?

By |2019-08-04T09:59:53-05:00June 6th, 2019|Daily Truth, Faith|

Can a person truly love You and pursue Your glory, and still seriously sin? Can such a person be forgiven and restored? What about me? Would You turn Your back on me if I failed You?

I come to You in the stillness of the night searching Your Word. I love how You chose David and anointed him king of Israel. He was a man after Your own heart. He loved you and bravely trusted You for protection and stood firmly on Your truth. No one questioned his devotion—David’s heart belonged to You. Oh, how I long to live at that level of devotion, but I keep making mistakes.

You, gracious God, show me that David took his eyes off of You and turned from Your commands when he saw Bathsheba. David wanted her as his own, knowing it was wrong. Before long, he was covering sin with sin, thinking he could hide it from everyone, including You. But You exposed it:

Why have you despised the word of the Lord, to do what is evil in his sight? You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and have taken his wife to be your wife and have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites (2 Samuel 12:9 ESV).

O Lord, David, who loved You with all of his heart, failed You miserably. I am in good company. I learn that in his deep sorrow, he turned back to seek Your mercy and compassion. David didn’t deny his sin or excuse it. He simply repented. Deeply and truly He turned to You and admitted everything. You, gracious God, granted forgiveness and full reconciliation. You will do the same for me.

Father, forgive me when I try to hide my sins from You. Your truth tells me, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:13 NIV). Though there will be many days that I will fall even as a redeemed believer, I realize that when I come to You with a broken and contrite heart, I am brought back to You through the saving blood of Jesus. I am forgiven, Your child after Your own heart.

He Will Calm The Trials In Your Life

By |2019-08-04T10:00:54-05:00April 25th, 2019|Daily Truth, Encouragement, Faith|

Trials aren’t fun. Father, to be honest, if I see one coming, I make every effort to avoid it. I question You, Lord, when I read Your words spoken through Your servant James that tell me to consider trials as “pure joy.” Really? Pure joy?

You gently remind me of my past trials and how You were in the midst of all of them. You show me Your perspective: that difficulty and struggle are not necessarily the enemy, that sometimes You are molding my character. You are teaching me not to sin during my trials but to seek You so that I will possess everything I need in life. It is Your wisdom that helps me to discern the challenges I face. Your truth tells me, Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing (James 1:2–4 ESV).

Though life is sometimes difficult, I am learning total reliance upon You. So as my faith grows in Your love, so does my perseverance. I know that You are transforming me into Your likeness—a complete follower who has been nourished by Your great faithfulness in the midst of my trials. There is no doubt that when I look back on my challenges, I will see Your hand of goodness and remember Your Word: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2 ESV). Knowing Your truth, I can handle anything.

Woman, Faith and Fitness!

By |2019-03-28T14:09:44-05:00March 28th, 2019|Woman, Faith and Fitness|

Like everything else in life – I have choices. I can either get it together physically and emotionally or I can let things go. To be honest, over the years I have wanted to let things go, especially when it involved fitness. But just like my faith, I couldn’t. Fitness and health have always been a part of my life. The Lord revealed through His Word that I have to take care of my health so I can continue to do what He calls me to do. He wants the same for you!

His truth tells us, “do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?” (1 Corinthians 6:19 NASB).

I want to encourage you as you seek God’s truth that it’s never too late to get fit even though fitness and health have never been a part of your life. Here are a few things to remember:

1. You don’t need a gym membership.
2. It’s free to choose a healthy lifestyle.
3. You have choices in activities, schedules and food.
4. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you!

I hope you join me and my friends who are experts in health, faith and fitness!

Don’t Look Back – Move Forward

By |2019-08-04T10:01:42-05:00March 20th, 2019|Encouragement, Faith, Family, Friends, Seek Truth|

Lord, I think back on the people that You brought into my life and those that You removed. And even though there were times I didn’t understand what You were doing, I know that both were tremendous blessings of encouragement and protection.

Sovereign Lord, I love how You protect and direct my life – that You see and know everything about me. Your truth tells me, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you” (Psalm 32:8 ESV).

Jesus, my heart listens to Your Spirit and You encourage me not to look back, but to keep my eyes upon You – Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. You are the One who directs of my life and I will seek and trust You – today, tomorrow and forever!

Will I Do The Same?

By |2019-08-04T10:02:32-05:00March 10th, 2019|Daily Truth, Faith, Seek Truth|

It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.John 13:1

It’s hard for me to think about that terrible day that You endured. Judas had already betrayed You and painful scourging and the excruciating crucifixion awaited. But in Your last few moments of freedom, You didn’t stop serving others.

Taking off Your outer garment, You served his disciples. Horrified by Your performing the task of a lowly servant, Peter tried to refuse … until You convinced him of its necessity. He had to accept the cleansing and let You serve him and save him with Your incredible grace.

Then You explained. The foot washing ceremony was not to be a onetime event. You wanted it to be a way of life for Your followers. A way of life for me. If I belong to Your kingdom, I will serve as You, my King did. And You, King Jesus served all the way to Your death.

Sometimes, in my fatigue and weakness, I am tempted to give up. Service is hard and counterintuitive. But if I want to be like You, if I want my life to count for the kingdom, I cannot live just for myself. Your truth tells me, “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others” (Philippians 2:3-4).

Lord, I want to be like You!

You Separate Me

By |2019-08-04T10:06:07-05:00February 25th, 2019|Daily Truth, Encouragement, Faith|

In the beginning, heavenly Father, You were there. Complete darkness, total silence. Emptiness. And then You opened Your mouth and declared: Let there be light! Your very first words spoken. Then You separated light from darkness. Little did I know as I study Your Word, the Bible, that Your radiant light didn’t come from the sun or the moon, it came from Your Son, Jesus Christ—the Savior of the world. The One who radiates Your light in a world full of darkness. My Savior!

Lord, in the beginning You separated the darkness from light. In the beginning You thought about me. You separated me, too. I no longer live in darkness. I live in Your light. I live in Your truth. A truth that has no end.

God Told Me To Tell You To Adopt The Baby

By |2019-02-19T10:45:39-05:00February 18th, 2019|Daily Truth, Faith, Family, Truth Stories|

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″ next_background_color=”#000000″][et_pb_row][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.19.1″ text_font=”Quicksand||||||||” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_font_size=”16px” header_font=”Quicksand||||||||” header_text_color=”#000000″]

When praying one morning a young woman who I had known came to my mind. God then plainly spoke to my heart and asked me to tell her not to be afraid to adopt. I had known that she and her husband struggled with the fact they could not conceive. I am a woman who is rarely afraid of speaking to people about my relationship with God, but I felt uncomfortable approaching her with this message. So as it is with my relationship with God, I told Him I would do what He asked, if He would place her before me.

The God that He is, determined to use me to to speak to her her, placed her before me while I was shopping at a local retail store. There she was, so I said to God, “I got this loud and clear.” I asked her if I could speak to her privately away from the store. She seemed hesitant, but she said, “well lets walk out to my car, I am looking for something to match this scarf.” When we got outside, I said, “Well I know you are  going to think I am crazy, but in prayer God asked me to tell you not to be afraid to adopt.” She immediately began to cry and asked me to get into the car so we could continue our conversation. There she told me that no one knew she and her husband had been approached about adopting a child, who was still in the womb of a woman who could not keep her baby.  She said they had not discussed this with anyone. She said no one knew not even their parents. They where having a hard time with it all. I told her that I told God if He placed her before me I would speak His word to her. I had not interned to shop at the store that day but in fact God lead me there. I told her that this child must be very important to God as He specifically chose her and her husband to be the guardians of the child’s life.  She said “I am sorry for the tears, but I am overwhelmed. I must go home and tell my husband.”  The child was a beautiful little girl with eyes as blue as the sky. She is about 9 years old now and she is loved beyond imagining.

Sometimes we are called to do the extraordinary. Fear can keep us from doing the work God needs us to do on His behalf. While I was not afraid, the thought of calling someone with such a message was a little intimidating, because as being a human goes, judgment is not easy. Yet God, knew I would do what He asked of me from past experience. He just needed to set things up. There are days that the ordinary walk with God ,in corporation with His will, makes a difference, though we may not see it. We just have to listen and trust Him.

Don’t Be Scared – You Are His!

By |2019-08-04T10:06:52-05:00February 17th, 2019|Daily Truth, Faith|

There are days in my life that I wonder where You are taking me. And to be honest, I get scared. How am I going to get through?

You revealed Your truth to me this morning as I spent time with You. You never change. Your Word never changes. And as You told Your children, the Israelites, in the book of Isaiah, Your Spirit whispered to my soul.  Your truth tells me, “But now, thus says the Lord, your Creator, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior” (Isaiah 43:1-3 NASB).

Heavenly Father – You are all I need to get through anything!
